High School Student Travel Programs are The Best Choices for You That are New on Travel Stuff

A t the rate that Westernization is taking over all cultures, it is getting harder and harder to experience the amazing traditions of alternative lifestyles.

If you are new to traveling, you may have already discovered the seemingly outrageous costs of plane tickets, lodging, recreation, and tourism...among other factors. Do not let this discourage you. Especially if you are a student, there are infinite ways to find student travel discounts for cheaper tickets and airfare deals. One place that I have always wanted to visit is Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The endless white sand beaches, the tropical climate, and the gorgeous inhabitants, have always invited my senses. The state university that I attended, offered a number of summer study abroad programs for students who want to travel to South America. Student travel discount cards are a great investment for adventuring students. They are widely accepted and prove to be an invaluable resource for great discounts abroad.

The student travel discount card is the only internationally recognized student travel card. Including, but not limited to, discounts on transportation tickets (airfare, train, bus, light-rail), restaurants and bars, concerts, festivals, malls...etc. Research your school's Student Union website to find out the specific process to apply for your student travel discount card.

Once you are on your way to the tropical beaches of South America, you may begin to notice that there aren't any advertisements for you discount card. Do no let this discourage you from showing it at whatever establishment you find yourself enjoying. In most cases, even if you don't see any sign of acceptance for your card, just the act of whipping out your student card will earn you the promised discounts abroad. Take for instance, that I decide to take a ferry across the bay to eat at one of the locally recommended restaurant paradises. Just showing the conductor that I hold a student travel discount card would automatically entitle me to 30% off of my fare. Who knows, maybe I could also get a free appetizer with my meal. Perhaps some shrimp ceviche with some "gringo fajitas". USA Student Travel specializes in discounts for students to various locations such as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico or Cancun. MSU Student Travel is also an online booking engine.

So if you're ready to immerse yourself in the tropical venues of South America, get your bags packed, your travel discount card applied for and delivered, and get ready for the time of your life! You Can Find The Best Student Travel Deals on Buy Cheap Discount Student Travel .

L.B. native loved to travel

He was a huge NASCAR fan, but he never drove the fast cars. Instead, Jack Robertson enjoyed slowly traveling scenic routes during family vacations.

"He loved to drive. He loved to see the road along the way," said his wife of 50 years, Irene Robertson. "He loved nature. We would stop and just see things. We always took the back roads, we never took the freeway."

Jack, 69, died April 19, a month shy of his 52nd wedding anniversary. He and his wife were married at the Poly High Carnival on May 4, 1956, and although it was done as a fundraiser at the time and wasn't legally binding, the two took it seriously. So seriously that they still have the certificate.

They legally married a year later, on May 24.

The Long Beach native and his wife meet in the early '50s while both were attending Stephens Middle School in West Long Beach.

Money-saving Memorial Day travel options

With gas prices already at an all-time high and Memorial Day just around the corner, many Americans are wondering how to travel without breaking the bank. Travelzoo's senior editor, Gabe Saglie offers some money-saving Memorial Day travel options.

A lot of what should dissuade the American traveler from hitting the road this Memorial Day has become reality. In shaky economic times when mortgage payments and groceries are on an even playing field when it comes to competing for our wallets, common sense might dictate travel would be way down. Consider that according to AAA, gas prices are already up 22% over last year and airline prices up 8% over last year.

But Americans seem to be steadfast about their right to time off. With tougher work demands and limited vacation days, skipping out on Memorial Day travel, even in the face of higher gas costs, is not an option.

Memorial Day weekend travel expected to drop below last year's levels

Pennsylvania is among the top 10 states of origin for Memorial Day holiday travelers, with an estimated 1.5 million expected to travel this holiday, AAA Mid-Atlantic reported Thursday.

Memorial Day weekend travel overall in the Northeast region, which includes Pennsylvania, is expected to drop 2.5 percent from last year, the largest decline among the five regions. The other regions are: the Great Lakes (-1%), Southeast (-.09%), Midwest (-.06%), West (-0.1%).

In the Northeast, 5.8 million are expected to take to the roads over the holiday weekend.

The Northeast is expected to fall to second-to-last for those traveling by air, with a projected 545,000 travelers expected to fly. The Great Lakes is projected to have the fewest air travelers over the holiday with 384,000.
